About the piece
An Anglican communion service in English plainchant: Kyrie, Creed, Sanctus and Agnus Dei. The edition, 36 measures in modern notation, carries a single melodic line.
How to prepare it
It is sung in unison and unaccompanied, with a free rhythm that follows the text. Its range is wide for a chant (C3–C5), so the starting pitch must be chosen carefully to be possible for low and high voices. Rehearse the text spoken with the natural rhythm of English, then the melody, without forcing accents.
When to use it
It is the music proper to the Anglican liturgy; in a Catholic or ecumenical context it can be used in Ordinary Time as a Kyrie, Sanctus or Agnus Dei in English.
