About the piece
A set of Ordinary chants of the Mass in Latin, in plainchant. The edition, 34 measures in modern notation, carries a single melodic line.
How to prepare it
It is sung in unison and unaccompanied. Its range is C4–E♭5 (a minor tenth), somewhat larger than that of other simple Masses, so the starting pitch should be chosen carefully. It is a piece of simple-intermediate level: work first on the Latin spoken, with clear vowels, and then each piece (Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus Dei) separately. Aim for a continuous phrasing without hard accents.
When to use it
It is the Mass proper to the Sundays of Ordinary Time and suits an assembly with some experience of plainchant.
